The
Virology Laboratory from the Universidad Nacional del Litoral is headed by Dr. Juan Daniel Claus and is composed of the following members:
Beccaría, Alejandro (PhD)

Palacios, Carlos (Doctoral fellow)
Its mains thematics are the optimization of viral production processes in animal cell cultures, the design of serum-free and animal-free culture media for animal cell cultures, the development of microbial insecticides and the virus inactivation.
The team has the following equipment at its disposal:
- Virology laboratory: laminar flow chambers (class I and II), incubators, inverted microscope, refrigerated centrifuges, orbital shaker, agitator for spinner-flasks, 2 l bubble-free instrumented bioreactor, etc.
- Fermentation laboratory: laminar flow chamber, incubators, instrumented CSTRs at 1, 10 and 15 l scale, airlift reactors, fluorescence microscope, incubation room, orbital shakers, high-speed centrifuge, etc.
- Biochemistry and molecular biology laboratories: ultracentrifuge, protein purification (FPLC, HPLC, etc), DNA, RNA and protein electrophoresis, PCR, RT-PCR, ELISA reader, etc.

| Role in the project |
Objectives:
- To establish master banks of cell lines and viral vectors.
- To establish a vector production platform.
- To provide enough amounts of high quality viral vectors for immunological evaluation.
- To optimize the production of viral vectors. |

Universidad Nacional del Litoral.
